Global Scholarship Alliance develops work/study programs in partnership with US universities and healthcare institutions. Depending upon the education program designs and the preferences of our alliance partners, GSA offers several program options. All GSA programs include some form of service component in exchange for participation in the scholarship program. Most GSA programs rely upon some form of non-immigrant visa including the following:
Cultural Exchange Programs - GSA's flagship Scholarship program is designed to replenish the supply of nurse educators in developing countries. Participating scholars agree to return to her/his country of origin or residence upon completion of the GSA program, typically for a two year period, to work as a nurse leader or educator and to help develop the next generation of nurses.
International Work/Study Programs - GSA's featured Scholarship program is designed to develop future nurse leaders and educators for the US and the rest of the world. The goal of this program is to reduce the nursing shortage by increasing the global population supply of nurse leaders and educators for developed countries as well as for developing countries.
Home Country Scholarship Programs - GSA's Home Country Scholarship program is a philanthropic endeavor. It is one of the ways GSA contributes to sustainability in developing countries. Participants complete an advanced nursing degree program and work full-time at a university or local healthcare instiution. Upon completion of the program, participating scholars are required to remain in their home country to work as a nurse educator, typically for one year or more. Our intitial programs were directed toward the Philippines, which is the GSA's leading source country for scholar candidates.
